POLICIES

FOOD & DRINKS

*Please keep the library clean!

All food, drinks, and gum are not allowed in the library.  All items need to be finished before entering the library or sealed and put away in a backpack.  No food or drinks are permitted near the computers.  Students will initially receive a warning with a loss of library privileges of up to two weeks.  Repeated violations of this rule will result in a referral and Saturday School.

ID CARDS

*Please see the Student/Parent Handbook.

ID cards are required to check out library books, textbooks, and equipment; view account information; or pay fines.  Replacement ID cards are $5.00 each and can be purchased in the Administration Office. Digital ID cards are also available in Student Connection via the Manteca USD app or high5.id.

All replacement cards are printed in the attendance office and/or library with a valid receipt.

Library Fines

*Payment for library fines must be made with CASH only.

Library fines (overdue, lost, or damaged library books) can be paid in the Administration Office or online at sierrahs.myschoolcentral.com. Students with any outstanding library fines will not be able to check out additional library books.

Fine notifications are auto-generated daily/weekly to MUSD student email accounts.  Please check your student email regularly!

Textbook Fines

*Payment for textbook fines must be made with CASH only.

Textbook fines for loss or damage can be paid in the Administration Office or online at sierrahs.myschoolcentral.com.  Review the tables below for borrowing policies and damage types with fine amounts.

Borrowing Policies

*Loan periods, loan limits, fines and fees are subject to change.

For questions about items checked out, fines, renewals or your library account, please contact the Library Media Technician.

Renewals
Most library materials can be renewed.  However, if another student has requested an item you have checked out, you will not be able to renew it.  Please return or renew borrowed items on or before the due date.

Notifications
Email notifications are sent daily/weekly to MUSD student email accounts as a reminder to renew library materials before they are due or return late/lost library materials and textbooks.  Notifications for overdue materials list an estimated fee that is subject to change until the overdue item is returned.

Overdue Items
Once an item is overdue, an email notification will be auto-generated through Destiny Library Manager.  Overdue fees will not exceed 30 days.  Items 30 days overdue will default to the full replacement cost and be billed to your library account.  Borrowing privileges will be suspended until all fees are paid in full or the overdue items are returned.

Fees are assessed for items returned damaged.  Damage to materials that is beyond normal wear is the responsibility of the borrower.

Materials Selection Policy

Selection of instructional materials shall be in conformity with provisions of the Education Code, Administrative Code, Title 5, and procedures and directives of the State Department of Education.

Complaints Procedure
